How Hero WOD Started
Hello everyone, my name is Zoey Selby. I'm a senior at Clover Park High School and this is my senior project. I came up with the idea of Hero WOD from my combined interest in exercise and service. My school is pretty big on service, in fact, what confirmed my idea for hosting a Hero WOD was the Arlington Project, which is a miniature replica of the National Arlington Cemetery housed on the school's front lawn. The Arlington Project will celebrate its 8th anniversary along with the birth of Hero WOD.
I am supremely interested in good health. I exercise at least once a day and sometimes three times a day. I go to Graham CrossFit, a gym that combines weightlifting, sprinting, and gymnastics. Every once in awhile, we'll do a Hero WOD, which is an insanely intense workout that was created in memory of a fallen soldier. After doing my first Hero WOD, I thought that it would be the perfect idea to base my senior project off of. So I did some research and here we are today.
My goal for the event on Memorial Day is to have as many people come and exercise as American soldiers who died in Afghanistan and Iraq. Right now the number is 6,843 so I'm counting on every one of you to come and support the cause!
